At Lusk Orthodontics, we believe patients should clearly understand the cost of orthodontic treatment before starting treatment.
Orthodontic treatment is an investment in your dental health, bite function, facial balance, and long-term confidence. Therefore, we focus on providing specialist orthodontic care using modern technology, detailed diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment planning.
As a specialist orthodontic clinic, we do not aim to offer the cheapest orthodontic treatment in Dublin. Instead, we focus on value, quality, and long-term results. Our fees reflect the level of specialist expertise, planning, clinical time, and attention to detail involved in each case.
Although lower fees elsewhere may appear attractive at first, poorly planned orthodontic treatment can sometimes lead to frustration, longer treatment times, compromised results, or the need for re-treatment later on.
At Lusk Orthodontics, our philosophy is simple:
Simple cases done efficiently. Complex cases done correctly.
We provide orthodontic treatment for children, teenagers, and adults across North Dublin and the wider Dublin area, including Lusk, Skerries, Rush, Swords, Malahide, Donabate, Portmarnock, and Balbriggan.
In addition, we regularly see patients travelling from across Ireland for more advanced and specialised orthodontic treatment, including:
Lingual braces (hidden braces)
Clear aligner treatment
Skeletal anchorage systems (TADs)
Palatal expansion techniques including MARPE, DOME, BARME, and MSE
Complex multidisciplinary orthodontic treatment
Impacted teeth treatment
At Lusk Orthodontics, we offer a complimentary initial orthodontic assessment for children and teenagers under the age of 18.
During this short visit, families can:
Meet our team
Visit our purpose-built orthodontic clinic
Discuss orthodontic concerns
Understand whether treatment may be needed
Ask questions in a relaxed and friendly environment
This appointment works as an initial screening assessment. As a result, parents can better understand whether further orthodontic assessment or treatment may be appropriate.
If further assessment is needed, we will arrange a second appointment for full orthodontic records and detailed treatment planning.
This appointment may include:
The fee for the records and specialist orthodontic consultation is €200.
For more complex cases requiring interdisciplinary assessment and referrals, such as airway-related concerns, surgical orthodontics, or TMJ issues, the consultation fee is €300.
If you proceed with orthodontic treatment at Lusk Orthodontics following the records and consultation appointment, we deduct the €200 consultation fee from the total treatment cost.
In some cases, we may need additional three-dimensional imaging using a CBCT scan.
For example, CBCT imaging is often useful for:
Impacted teeth
Skeletal expansion planning
Teenagers requiring MARPE or mini-screw supported expansion
More complex orthodontic or skeletal assessments
Where clinically required, an additional fee of €150 applies for the CBCT scan and reporting of the findings.
Because CBCT imaging involves advanced diagnostic technology, the €150 fee remains separate from the orthodontic treatment fee and is non-deductible, even if treatment proceeds.
The cost of orthodontic treatment mainly depends on two factors.
Some orthodontic problems involve simple tooth alignment. However, other cases require more advanced bite correction, impacted tooth management, skeletal correction, or multidisciplinary treatment.
As complexity increases, treatment may require:
Longer treatment times
More detailed planning
Advanced orthodontic mechanics
Additional appliances or laboratory work
Different orthodontic systems require different levels of clinical time, digital planning, and laboratory customisation.
Treatment options at Lusk Orthodontics may include:
Fixed metal braces
Ceramic (clear) braces
Clear aligners
Lingual braces placed behind the teeth
Functional appliances
Skeletal anchorage systems (TADs)
MARPE skeletal expansion appliances
To ensure fairness and consistency, we assess orthodontic case complexity using internationally recognised orthodontic indices, including:
IOTN – Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need
ICON – Index of Complexity, Outcome and Need
Healthcare systems such as the NHS and HSE also use these systems to assess orthodontic treatment need and complexity.
In simple terms:
Lower scores usually indicate less complex orthodontic problems and shorter treatment times
Higher scores usually indicate more complex orthodontic problems requiring longer treatment and more advanced mechanics
Comprehensive orthodontic treatment at Lusk Orthodontics includes:
Fixed bonded retainers placed behind the teeth
Three sets of removable retainers (one active set and two spare sets)
All routine orthodontic adjustment appointments
Monitoring visits throughout treatment
Emergency comfort visits during treatment if needed
Our goal is not simply to straighten teeth. More importantly, we aim to help patients maintain stable and healthy orthodontic results long term.
Some advanced orthodontic appliances require custom design and manufacturing for each patient.
As a result, laboratory costs may vary depending on the complexity of the appliance and treatment plan. However, we will always discuss any additional costs clearly before treatment begins.
Existing Lusk Orthodontics patients (3 sets for both arches): €450
Patients not originally treated at Lusk Orthodontics (3 sets for both arches): €600
Bonded fixed retainer: €300 per arch
Upgrade for existing Lusk Orthodontics patients: €300 per arch
Replacement for non-Lusk Orthodontics patients: €450 per arch
The following ranges reflect typical fees depending on case complexity.
At Lusk Orthodontics, we’re proud to offer one of the most comprehensive ranges of orthodontic treatments in Dublin and across Ireland — all delivered to the highest clinical standards.
